There are few things I am guilty of in this world, and one of them is shopping. But when considering all the alternative vices out there, I think I’m a pretty lucky person to get stuck with a simple retail fixation.
There are different categories to this love (coats, home decor, running shoes, jeans), and my adoration for each ebbs and flows according to where I am in life. Since I am currently harboring an addiction to yoga, it is yoga wear and all of its (completely unnecessary) accessories that have me swooning every time I walk into Lululemon, or pull up Shakti Activewear online.
Luckily I have controlled myself by using a rewards system as an excuse to buy from my favorite outfitters. Coming back into the studio after a long hiatus = new pair of shorts, finally nailing a pose that took me 2 years to master = new water bottle. This may seem silly, but as I mentioned earlier, considering the alternative, I think it’s worked out well.
This bag is one of my favorite rewards, but not from my own wacky little system. It was a gift from my boyfriend after living together for a year. It was his way of supporting my exercise schedule even though it means time away from him. For me it’s a proud reminder to keep taking care of my spirit and body through exercise, even when there are sometimes much more enticing things to do with my time.
Do you have a rewards system for your workout-of-choice? Maybe a manicure, or dessert, or a good book from the library. I’m curious if I’m the only one out there with this odd little method of motivation.
