What I’ve Missed DearlyJanuary 19, 2011

Now that the intense yoga training is done, I am able to settle back into my daily routine. I had a lot of wonderful awakening moments and learned a ton about myself during this yoga journey, but I’m happy to have life back to normal once again. Many of you are already familiar with my philosophy of life being a large chain of tiny moments. Below is a photographic listing of some of the tiny things/activities/scenes I longed for most while training:

My running shoes. After hours in the hot room, a jog suddenly seems like the most tempting and exotic way to exercise

Polishing my nails. This may be a tiny, rather vain thing to miss, but I couldn't be more excited about having the energy to do girlie things like this once again

Having fresh cut flowers in a clean house. The laundry strike is off, and I'm back to scouring the house regularly. This means the occasional vase of beautiful flowers to spruce things up.

Clint, the wonderdog. I've missed our long walks, and suspect he has too.

Chocolate, chocolate, and chocolate. I've been holding out on dairy and sweets in order to increase my athletic performance, but I've missed it dearly in the past 2 weeks.

QUESTION: What are the things you’ve missed most while in the midst of intense physical training?

Being home – or spending more time at home I should say. That of course encompassing not seeing the hubby, the pups, or being able to spend time in the kitchen (oh and chores…)

I don’t think I’ve ever put myself through intense physical training like that before but right now I’m doing the p90X program. Right now i’m missing some of my old work outs!!

could you not incorporate your old workouts in with the P90X?

That’s definitely the thing I missed most too Heather! I love having the house in order:)

I’m curious about this P90X thing! I haven’t tried it yet, but I’ve heard it’s super intense. I didn’t know the program really “allowed” you to incorporate any other workouts ;)

Being in massage therapy school, I’m not supposed to paint my nails anymore. And not that I did it that often before, but when I did I always loved it.

    Hello Jos,

What did you gain from this experience? Whether the rewards were physical, emotional, spiritual. . .perhaps all aspects benefited. I’m hearing what you missed and what will not be taken for granted in this moment and the next, but what did you learn about your self in the rawness of the heat and humidity? How can we grow as well, from your hard work and dedication?

    Namaste,

    Penney

Those are really good questions Penney! I have to admit, since the experience is so fresh, the things that come to mind first are all that I’ve missed! I think I need a few more days to reflect on the real benefits and all that I learned about myself in this process. Stay tuned for another post on that soon:))

    how was all that training??

  • http://a-taste-of-confidence.com Jess@atasteofconfidence

I miss sleeping! And spending time with friends.

  • http://missfitbliss.com missfitbliss

It was tough more emotionally than physically. It was a good lesson in how much repetition and creating muscle memory helps to perform, but working on getting into postures that seem impossible is tough on your mind! It’s a battle between what your brain says is impossible and what your body tries to do:)

Q and I trained really hard for a camping trip, I know not the same as yours, BUT I was pregnant and I had to carry a pack on my back and hike for 13 miles at a time. It was definitely physical. What I missed the most was coffee! When I train hard I cut it out. For me drinking coffee isn’t about the coffee it is about how I FEEL while drinking coffee. It is my quiet time to just think. Always pushing myself at 4 AM made my brain tired! I just wanted to relax for a minute!!! I can’t wait to hear about your experience. I’ve really enjoyed the pics on FB

Um. Intense physical training? That may not be a part of my life right now.. or ever. Haha. I workout regularly and I usually work up a good sweat but it’s never anything super intense and if it were, I’m not sure if I would change my diet since it’s already quite healthy. I do admire your strength though! Being able to complete a challenge like that and give up chocolate? You’re superwoman. ;)

Congrats girl for getting through your yoga!! I love that when you set your mind to something, you do it :)

I miss the small things like painting my nails too when I am so freaking busy, like I am now ;)

    xxoo

Thank you for making me laugh out loud Ayla! Yes, the chocolate deprivation and the training was a killer combo:)
